Title: Internal nofollow links are deprecated and should be removed
Post by: Caleb Simonyi-Gindele on December 28, 2015, 07:35:35 am
Hi,

Just doing some link analysis and noticed that the Powerpress plugin uses nofollow links internally. I found this in the "Subscribe" section under the podcast player for RSS feeds. Here's an example

<a href="https://www.onlyyouforever.com/feed/podcast/" class="powerpress_link_subscribe powerpress_link_subscribe_rss" title="Subscribe via RSS" rel="nofollow">RSS</a>

Matt Cutts of Google has specifically recommended *no* nofollow'ing of internal links. (http://www.labnol.org/internet/drop-nofollow-from-internal-links/14107/) It's fine for external links. Just wondering if we can modify the code to remove the use of internal nofollow links.

Thanks
Caleb

Your free to modify the code but we have found that most shows with multiple links to their RSS feed on their home page that nofollow has proven to be an optimal thing to employ in this specific instance. Otherwise some shows could have 10-15 links to their rss feed on their sites home page while generally not an issue we have seen shows be hurt in Google making it appear they are trying to over emphasize the feed and causing it to be depreciated.
