Bilingual Podcast Using Channels
« on: July 09, 2017, 12:53:01 pm »
Hi podcast friends,

I'm setting up a bilingual podcast using the channel podcasting feature.  Last night I added a second channel episode (Spanish version) to an existing post, but so far it hasn't shown up anywhere.  I ran both feeds through http://castfeedvalidator.com/ and they validate but neither shows the new item.

New items in a feed should show up right away correct?  Any help is much appreciated!

Your Spanish language feed has no items in it.

When you posted the last Spanish language episode, to your website, did you only use the embed code to add it to your website or did you also add it to the appropriate Podcast Episode box for that channel within your WordPress post?

Also, if you're using any caching plugins, you may want to temporarily turn them off, as they may be "holding on" to an older version of the Spanish language RSS feed and not allowing it to update.

Thanks Shawn!

I updated the post using the new podcast episode box.  The media shows up just fine.  I'm not using any caching plugins unless there's some setting in Jetpack I overlooked.

Update: Turns out I was trying to validate the wrong feed!  Oops :/
Here's the correct one: http://travelogue.media/feed/spanish/

So I now have a valid feed with the new Spanish language channel, and it's showing the new episode.

Related Question: How do I modify the language tag in the new feed so that iTunes knows?  Is it necessary to submit each additional channel feed to iTunes separately?

Thanks again!

To change the language for custom channel feeds:
1.) Log into your WordPress site and hover over the PowerPress link in the lefthand sidebar, click Podcast Channels
2.) Click the Edit link underneath the name of the channel you need to edit
3.) In the Feed tab, find the Feed Language menu dropdown menu and select the language you want
4.) Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page
