If I use the main feed and have the description set to be taken from the post it removes all image location urls of images posted into the blog post however in category podcasting if i use the specific category link the image url of posted images is put in the description and i don't think it should be.

Example is here:

http://castfeedvalidator.com/?url=http://www.davidnewsum.net/?feed=podcast - you will see in the episode description there are no links at the top.

http://castfeedvalidator.com/?url=http://www.davidnewsum.net/?feed=rss2&cat=45 - (please note for some reason when click the link it removes the &cat=45 from the link so copy and paste it) you will see from the same podcast/description it is now display the thumbnail image address url.

It's the same descriptions taken from the post but I'm not sure why with category podcasting it doesn't strip out the image addresses like it should and it does in the main feed.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong as I don't want the image url in there and want to use category podcasting.

Thanks

David

I can't really tell because of your permalinks settings (or lack of).   BUT, are you sure you are using the Category Podcast feed or are you using the plain old wordpress category feed?
I just remembered, Category podcasting just adds podcast tags to the wordpress generated feed so there is no Podcast-only category feed.

Is there a reason you are using category feeds for your podcast?

If you only have one podcast you are WAY better off using the main podcast feed for podcasting.   You can still use categories to organize your site.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

I was going to have two podcasts on one site but then decided to just put one so I have turned off category podcasting upon your recommendation and am now using the main feed.
However when I turned of category podcasting I now get the image url's of posted images in the post in the rss description as before. Example at http://castfeedvalidator.com/?url=http://www.davidnewsum.net/?feed=podcast, and you'll see it lists the url of an image in the description. any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

Thanks

David

That might be a thing that Castfeedvalidator is doing..

Look at your feed (http://www.davidnewsum.net/?feed=podcast) in firefox. (other browsers won't work the same)

It looks fine.

Thanks again for your prompt response.

I've just looked at the feed in a browser and it shows about half way down:

"<itunes:summary>(http://www.davidnewsum.net/wp-content/uploads/wordpress/dancing-in-a-club-150x150.jpg)About 5 years ago I was doing a.....etc etc etc"

It has the Jpeg link at the beginning of the description and it's showing up in iTunes. It didn't use to do this and it doesn't have this behaviour in my other blog thats a copy of the site (same theme etc). The image address is removed from the description in my other blog.

The other blog is www.theshow.ae/?feed=podcast

Hey

I've just worked it out...

I had "Optimize iTunes Summary from Blog Posts" ticked in the iTunes table and when i un-ticked it the problem went away.

So now according to Powerpress my posts aren't optimised as i've unticked that box but they are infact now optimised. lol

Thanks for your help on this.
