Author Topic: Post content causing validation errors - can I opt-out of post content inclusion  (Read 1332 times)

I believe my feed validation issue has to do with the XML file containing content from the blog post.
I started out with all the default settings under the Basic Settings tab (use blog post content) - content I don't really need to have in the RSS Feed, and would prefer to override with more specific content.
I've overridden the options NOT to pull content from the post page on the Basic Settings tab. I've cleared all the caches I could find - including the one in the Tools section.
Most of the post flotsam is still appearing in the XML data when I try to validate it via Feed Validator - and causing it to fail. All of which if were removed, would likely make a valid feed.

My question. Is there a simple option / way to completely override, or opt-out of everything in the post content and make the RSS feed only with the info I've specified in the PowerPress panels?

much appreciated,
A

It very well could be a plugin conflict.

Try going through this troubleshooting:  http://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/using-powerpress/diagnosing-feed-andor-player-issues-with-powerpress/

Some people have a lot of trouble with caching plguins.

I don't think you are using our plugin, the source of the feeds do not include our signature.

line 1, column 39: Unable to validate namespace: http://www.rawvoice.com/rawvoiceRssModule/. See the RawVoice specification at http://www.rawvoice.com/services/tools-and-resources/rawvoice-rss-2-0-module-xmlns-namespace-rss2/

Kinda looks like this might be your signature.

Unfortunately I can't mess with the cache situation, so I had to find a work around.
The solution that finally worked was to create a new post with no purpose but to act as a conduit to create the RSS feed via Custom Podcast Channels. Not the most elegant solution, however, works quite nicely now. These posts are hidden since the entire site is organized by categories. The post are basically not visible to  the viewing public. This trick may be appropriate for everyone, and is dependent on how your site is organized and managed.

For the suggestion box: Offer a way to completely opt-out of the post content and use only info defined in the plug-in panel.

Thanks.

Ahh I now understand what you wanted. You want a podcast feed, but you do not want the player and links in the pages.

Just a heads up, go to the PowerPress Channels menu, then edit the channel you created that you do not want shown on your site. Go to the "Media Appearance" settings tab, make sure it does not include a player and links in your pages.

The default podcast feature of PowerPress is technically a podcast channel as well. You can do the same thing by editing the default podcast channel and using the same setting under  "Media Appearance". At that point though, the player and links will not appear anywhere for the main podcast, which may or may not be what most folks want.
