Feed not validating, but is working?
« on: March 10, 2013, 02:20:32 pm »
I am adding my show to some new directories and thought I should check to see if the feed s validating and it isn't. Itunes still gets the podcast updated as it should and I can still view the feed from the browser. Is this something I should be worried about? Does affect the stats?

Thanks,
Tim

When asking for help, please include the following:

* URL to your podcast feed (e.g. http://example.com/feed/podcast/)

These details make all the difference when trying to investigate your question or problem.

Feed Validator is complaining about special characters in the values

http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsurfingaliens.com%2Ffeed%2Fpodcast%2F

I would edit the blog post in question (I think it's Framed Webseries~Jose Mojica), copy/paste the contents out of the window into a clean editor such as notepad, then slowly copy paragraphs back in one by one then save the post. Copying to/from a text editor like notepad will get rid of all the weird characters that may be in the content.

Thank You! Do you know what happens if it goes unfixed?

If iTunes is pulling it now without problems, then it's not an issue. iTunes has the most picky infrastructure, most every other podcast directory including Blubrry will work around such an error in the feed.
