Edited because this was resolved.  Found another post that confirms that the uploader is only utilized with paid accounts.  Gotta say that this was not at all clear in the tutorial videos.  In fact, I'm having a heck of a time understanding what can actually be done in free mode.

Any clarification of what can be accomplished in free mode for a potential podcaster who has a WP.org blog would be appreciated.

Thanks,
bcb

We've done our best to document on the plugin's home page what features require our paid service. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/powerpress/

Integrates with Blubrry's Services
Blurry.com provides FREE and paid services.
  • Basic Statistics - FREE
  • Premium Statistics - $5/month
  • Media Hosting - plans start at $12/month
The Blubrry Media Uploader works specifically with Blubrry.com Media Hosting service.

PowerPress can be configured to use the Blubrry.com API to provide access to upload and select media hosted at blubrry.com.

PowerPress can be used without using any blubrry.com services. You need to have your own place to upload your media to. Once your media is uploaded, all you do is copy the Media URL (http://www.example.com/path/to/media.mp3) and paste it into the Podcast Episode box > Media URL field located in the Edit Post screen.
