Title: Chrome https
Post by: ali on January 18, 2017, 03:42:14 am
I discovered yesterday that google are going to implement 'not secure' warnings with http sites. So getting https will be a necessity. The sites and podcasts I run give information and I don't earn money through them so paying out for ssl certs is not an option. Aparently my hosting company gives one free ssl certificate for one domain so that covers one site.

I have blubrry hosting for my podcasts and was thinking of transfering one over to the powerpress hosting site but was wondering if the powerpress hosting sites are http or https?

If they are http is there any plan to change them to http?

Thanks,

Alison

PowerPress Sites are not currently https but they will be https by default soon. Blubrry is still waiting to get some important information back from Apple before making the switch.

Just another quickie, if I move my podcast from my own wordpress site to a powerpress site with http and set up a redirect, would I have to do another redirect when the site became https? How does it affect a feed when changing from http to https?

Thanks.

You shouldn't need to set up a second redirect. Both http and https should work, and when necessary, http will automatically redirect itself to https.
