Title: Moved to BlueHost to Subfolder of another domain hosting
Post by: jimfelder on May 19, 2016, 03:24:59 pm
Just realized after moving to Bluehost that once our hosting at GoDaddy expires, we will lose the links to our episodes. The episodes are in a folder .../feed/podcast/. But I' thinking since the folder is a subfolder and is an add-on domain the source link to the episodes in existing posts will change. Correct? Do we need to go change all the posts urls? I changed the nameservers at GoDaddy for the domain. Is that the only thing to change?

Also, when on the website, you go to a new menu or page, that page's url shows the main domain and the subdomain instead of the website domain.

The main domain is audaciousimages.com
The subfolder is audaciousimages.com/fotofactspodcast/
The url for the episodes are currently: fotofactspodcast.com/feed/podcast/episode_name.m4a
The hosting expires in 2 days. OUCH!

Thanks for any feedback and help.

If the WordPress installation and files are copied with the same hierarchy to the new web host, you shouldn't need to change anything. If you put the media files in a different location on the hew web host, then you can use the Find & Replace tool within PowerPress to change the media file URLs to the new location.
