NEewbie struggling with plug in and itunes
« on: August 15, 2009, 01:39:19 pm »
Can anyone help?

I have recorded my first podcast, uploaded it, published it, validated the feeds, but can'y get itunes to accept the feed. It can't find any episodes!

My site is http://iconfessimageek.com

the feeds are http://iconfessimageek.com/?feed=rss2  and http://iconfessimageek.com/?feed=podcast

This is the last bit that I need to sort out before I knock out another episode!

Thanks in advance

iTunes is very strict when it comes to links to media files. Your media link doesn't indicate a file extension (e.g. http://iconfessimageek.com/podcasts/Geek01), so iTunes is rejecting it. If you add a .mp3 to the file, iTunes should accept it.

Quote from iTunes specifications page, about 3/4 down the page under the <enclosure> section:
Quote
The file extension of the URL attribute of this tag is used to determine if an item should appear in the Podcast directory. Supported extensions include "m4a", "mp3", "mov", "mp4", "m4v", and "pdf".

Thank you Angelo, for a very prompt response!

...and it worked!!

It also explained why I had an embedded blubrry video player rather than the audio one.

Watch out podcast world, here I come!!!!
