Hi there; very much enjoy this plugin, no complaints...

However, I'm following up on an earlier forum post requesting the ability to customize various iTunes parameters--specifically, the <itunes:summary> channel info and the <itunes:subtitle> item info. (As of right now, the subtitle and description are both filled in with the entire body of text in the given podcast post)

Had posted here previously about this issue, and was told Blubrry was planning on implementing these options in a 0.8.X release; we're now on 0.9.0, and I haven't seen any evidence of them yet. Is there a new plan/timetable for the addition of these options in an upcoming release?

Thanks,

Paul Sabourin

Hey Paul,

We just added this functionality in 0.9.0. We made it a setting, these new features do not appear by default so the entry field is not cluttered.

First, you need to be in advanced mode in Blubrry PowerPress. If you're not in Advanced Mode, go to the Basic Settings page and click the first option listed to switch to Advanced mode.

To enable iTunes Keywords, Subtitle and Summary fields, go to the Basic settings of PowerPress to the "Podcast Entry Box" section. Select "Advanced" and then place a check next to the fields you want added to your podcast entry box.

New features include:
  • Embed Field (enter embed code from sites such as YouTube, Viddler and Blip.tv)
  • No Player Option (disable player on a per episode basis)
  • iTunes Keywords Field
  • iTunes Subtitle Field
  • iTunes Summary Field

WARNING: USE THE NEW iTunes FIELDS AT YOUR OWN RISK. iTunes is very picky on the characters used for this field, it cannot contain HTML or non UTF8 characters. If you copy/paste from a program like Word, first copy/paste the contents into a plain text editor like notepad then re-copy/paste into the iTunes Summary field. Doing this removes all the extra characters that may cause issues with iTunes.
