Hi, I'm baffled by this problem. I've been using the same workflow to post new episodes, but this morning when I uploaded my latest episode and set up the post, I was unable to see the player when I published it. Mind you, the 'preview' player came up fine when I did the preview / draft view. It's only when I press publish, then the live page shows up, when the player disappears. I've tried deleting the post and starting over, reuploading the episode file, but the same thing happens.

It doesn't seem to be a Powerpress issue as my former episodes still appear on my site and the player shows up as normal. It's only with this new post. I don't get it.

Any help? I'm working through deactivating plug ins but nothing seems to be affecting my ability to upload this new episode.

Here's an example of my normal post -

the new one never shows the player at all.

I feel like this post:
https://godandgigs.com/2018/10/04/kennyamiller/

Isn't showing up on the website at all. Are you sure the post is live? If it is, you might consider deleting it, emptying the trash, and posting it again.

Hi,
I actually deleted it and reposted it a couple of times. It was an attempt to figure out what was happening.. I can make it live again, but of course the problem is there's no podcast connected to it and I didn't want people to find it without the episode attached.
That's the big problem with this - the only way to track down the problem is to post NEW articles over and over, hoping that I find the right plugin conflict. Meanwhile I send out notices over and over to my audience that new posts are being published when they are simply duplicates.

Here's the post re-activated.  https://godandgigs.com/2018/10/06/kennyamiller/

Looking at your podcast RSS feed here:
https://godandgigs.com/feed/podcast/

I'm not seeing that last episode in the feed. Make sure that you've linked your WordPress site to your Blubrry account:
https://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/powerpress-settings/services-stats/

Then follow this procedure when you publish new episodes:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRqsylR1uXw&feature=youtu.be

Doing so should ensure that your episode makes it into your podcast feed and also posts on your website.

Thanks Shawn, but I think we're missing the point - I've done everything you mentioned and successfully posted all my episodes up to this point. It's only now in the last two weeks that the procedure seems to be broken. Is it possible that my feed was corrupted or changed and that's why my new episode won't load into the new page?

Here's some screenshots so you can see my workflow and where the problem is.
1) I made sure that my account is still linked.

2) I load the new episode via the bluberry link. The episode is verified.

3) I attempt to use the BluBurry Player on the site. It doesn't appear in the preview

4) I then change to the Media Player.js player. It DOES appear in the preview and the episode loads and plays. https://www.evernote.com/shard/s123/sh/77cafda0-33b2-4699-9ccf-01161bd92d69/a2348d41bf528c5637f27ce6e5e2ed9a

5) When I hit publish (which I didn't this time because you have already seen the result and I didn't want to send yet another blank post to my email-list), the episode disappears and nothing is sent to the feed.

I hope this helps clear up the issue. I wish it was as simple as reloading the post, but I've tried that numerous times. It has to be a plug-in issue somewhere, right? Should I delete and reload Powerpress or will that break the links to my other episodes?

Thanks for your time and for helping me get past this annoying issue.

This episode:
https://godandgigs.com/2018/09/13/oneyear/

Is now in your podcast feed and there is a player on the post on your site. Looks like a customized version of the MediaElement.js player, and I'm assuming that customization came along with the theme.

If you want to use the Blubrry Audio Player instead, what happens if you change the Audio Player setting now to the Blubrry Player? Does the player still disappear on the site?

Hi,
I tried switching to the BluBrry Player, and no, the player didn't show up in the existing post. However, I was able to click on the "play in new window" link, and it showed up in the new window. That didn't happen in the new post I attempted.

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s123/sh/9767156a-3173-45e1-8416-56f8aabaed1b/32acbdaee84b444fb1f38f12ab26e71f

I didn't realize the theme was changing the look of the player. Is it possible a unknown theme update is the problem?

Gratefully,

Allen

It definitely seems like the theme may be doing something with the audio player. Switch temporarily to a default WordPress theme like the 2017 theme and see if the Blubrry Audio Player works under that theme. If it does, then you know your theme is the source of the issue.

Hoooo boy. This has been a crazy fight with this issue....thank you for your help.

So, I tried the generic theme and it did show the Blubrry player. However that DIDN'T ensure that posting a new episode would connect to the file in Blubrry hosting and my feed. That was the original problem. So, I tried deactivating and reactivating Powerpress, removing yet another plug in, switching back to my original theme and trying the post again. Oh, and I also went into BluBrrry Settings and selected the "please fix".

I was noticing two things as I did this - my Google Chrome browser was alerting me to unsafe scripts. Before I was telling it to load them as I figured it might be something the page needed. This time, I didn't load the unsafe scripts. (It appears to be loading fonts from an unsecure site)

Secondly, it seems like powerpress was having trouble even opening the dialog box where I upload the episode. Mind you, I deleted it at least 10 times and reuploaded it to make sure I was starting fresh and not trying to post the same file twice. I'm not sure why that was happening, but finally I got it to load when I changed the name of the file.

Also, I think my feed is showing up as not validated when I tried it in cast feed validator, under https.

All that to say, I uploaded the file, hit publish and for a brief second, success! I saw the file under the player, everything played, and the new episode appeared in the feed.
Then, it all went south.

I went back in to add my featured image (I left it out at first to focus on the player issue) and added an exceprt. Thats ALL I did, thinking that the episode was now in the feed and I could modify the blog post. Then, I updated AND THE PLAYER DISAPPEARED AGAIN!
Not only that, the episode is gone from the feed. It's like it simply erased it. I have no idea how the feed was modified or why it would erase the episode. As you can see from the screenshot,

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s123/sh/54d5f7aa-3abc-4003-9872-171218ed4efa/022095c03085264ffcdba8cbbf6da033

the episode WAS published, but under the post it acts like it never happened. I'm not given an option to "modify episode", instead it looks like the file simply was published then deleted from the post. What?

I'm at a total loss now. Maybe my theme is the issue, but without knowing if my feed is still valid I now worry that all my efforts will be for naught because my feed is simply not working right. :(

Please go here:

Click the Select link underneath All Other Inquiries and choose Technical Support. Fill out the form with your questions and someone will get back to you with assistance. We may need account information that wouldn't be good to post on a public forum.

Your situation is also getting a bit too complex to try and solve thru the forums. I will be locking this thread to future replies to keep the communication lines from potentially fracturing.
