Media Statistics Redirect URL 2: How does this work?
« on: July 26, 2018, 09:44:58 pm »
I'm trying to add Podtrac stats tracking in order to help audit our numbers. I've added the redirect URL into URL 2 (http://dts.podtrac.com/redirect.mp3/).

I've since published a new episode, and I don't see that redirect anywhere in the RSS <enclosure> tags, and Podtrac isn't gathering our stats. I feel like I must be missing a setting somewhere, or perhaps I don't understand the intended behavior, but I'm trying to follow Podtrac's instructions. Looks like I have PowerPress 6.2.2 and WordPress 4.9.7.

Would appreciate any help in troubleshooting this or explaining the expected behavior, because I'm stumped.

Please post a link to the podcast feed you need help with so we can take a closer look at what's going on.

I looked at the feed and confirmed that the Podtrac stats redirect URL isn't there. If you're using any caching plugins/services, clear them, as they may be "holding on" to an older version of the feed.

What’s an example of such a service?

As far as I know, the only things I have installed via WordPress are PowerPress and some visual tools (themes, sliders, etc) that don’t interact with RSS.

Take a screenshot of the stats redirect settings in your Services & Stats tab so I can see what that looks like. This forum doesn't have image uploading capabilities so you'll need to put it on a file-sharing service like Dropbox, etc. and then post a link here.

I tried loading that screenshot URL in two different browsers but it's not working.

One thing I'd suggest is to update your PowerPress plugin. You're on PowerPress 6.2.2 and the latest version is 7.3.

Updated to 7.3, deleted the Redirect, and then re-applied the redirect. Looks like it's working now.

Thanks!
