iTunes "can't parse feed"
« on: July 02, 2018, 09:27:49 pm »
After reading through this forum, this obviously isn't the first time this has happened, but I didn't read anywhere where it says "do this to fix it". I've successfully added a BUNCH of podcasts to iTunes with no issue - now this.  :(

My feed is. http://www.louisville.am/category/on-the-upside/feed/

Who can hook a brutha up with some sweet advice?

Something on your site is injecting some weird scripting code in to the very top of your podcast RSS feed. It's most likely either your WordPress theme or a plugin outside of PowerPress that's doing it. This page has some suggestions on how to diagnose the issue:

I'll try and go through that rigamarole. In the meantime, I'm getting more specific instructions from Google Play. It's saying I'm missing Title, Author, and Email although it is very clearly entered into Blubrry setup. I can provide a screenshot. Have you seen this before?

And wouldn't my theme or the outside plugin goof up the other RSS feeds coming out of the site? They're all working fine.

I looked at your site's main feed here:
http://www.louisville.am/feed/

And I also looked at the default PowerPress podcast feed here:
http://www.louisville.am/feed/podcast/

Neither of these feeds have the script code at the top. But this category-based feed here:
http://www.louisville.am/category/on-the-upside/feed/

Does still have it. Why this injection is targeting category-based feeds only, I can't say. If it were something PowerPress is doing, we'd be getting tons of support requests about it. Yours is the first case I've seen of this, ever. It's also possible your site was hacked and some malware was installed. The company hosting your site might be able to help you check for that, if you want to file a support request with them.

Just to close the loop on this for the sake of others, my hosting files had been hacked with malware, infecting Louisville.am and a couple of  others. I did a cleanup job and that re-established all feeds as operational, including the new one.

I hope this helps others at some point.
