404 on any action in settings for Blubbry
« on: August 08, 2017, 08:31:51 am »
I got a message from iTunes - iTunes Store Podcast Rejected Notification

The podcast excists for almost 2 years without any issues thanks to the Blubbry plugin.
With this message of iTunes I was of course in a bit of a stress.

I tried to look into the issue and made a change in the Blubbry settings.
Clicking the Save button gives me a 404.

It doesn't matter what I do, trying to save a setting or switch to the simple mode, every time I get a 404 screen.

My feed https://ernohannink.nl/feed/podcast/ seems to have issues for iTunes and Stitcher, it still works on play.fm.
I can see the content of the feed but iTunes does not see any episodes in the feed.

The most recent change on my website is moving to https but that happened 3 weeks ago.

I have done the following already:
- save the permalink structure
- deactivated all plugins and activate and test Blubbry
- removed Blubbry plugin and added again

Still same 404 upon saving settings.

I don't have this issue with other plugins.

Any suggestions what might have happened?

Who is your web hosting provider? We've found a small number of web hosting providers are having an issue with something in PowerPress 7.1 that causes this to happen. The dev team is aware of it and will be implementing a fix in the next PowerPress update. Until then, the only solution is to downgrade to PowerPress 7.0.4.

Found the 7.0.4 version to download after some searching. :)
Removed version 7.1 and installed 7.0.4
Solved that save and 404 issue.

After some digging i found the issue with the feed.
The Dragon Design Sitemap Generator caused an issue by adding an empty line to the feed.
Deactived the plugin, emptied the cache and the feed works again.

Resubmitted my podcast to iTunes and Stitcher.
All looking good.

Is there a public issue to track this fix?

I would attempt to downgrade but I'm afraid of losing my settings and there doesn't seem to be an export/import option available for them.

mdaj - There is no public tracking I'm aware of. The fix should be addressed in the next PowerPress update.

PowerPress settings are stored in your WordPress database. Deactivating the plugin and downgrading the plugin shouldn't have any impact on your settings.

The 7.1.1 version did not fix the problem

I have now the Blubrry PowerPress 7.2 beta 1 version installed.
At first I had an error bur then I deactivated all the plugins and the problem was gone.
I found that the 'SEO Friendly Images' plugin added a white line to the feed.
Actived all my other plugins except for this one and my podcast feed works.

 :)

ernohannink, I will try disabling all the add-ons in my instance to see if that works.

Alternatively, I tried catching the REST calls being made to post my own. It works but then gets reset, so that has been a pointless endeavor.
