November 30, 2017 ... bug?
« on: September 19, 2017, 05:25:08 pm »
Hello everyone, I am having an odd issue with my Category Podcasting Feeds.

For some reason, all of my podcasts have stopped working properly as of September 1.  For whatever reason, when you click on one of my feeds (see below) the last show is recorded no later than Aug 31.  I have of course been creating shows this month.

I can't seem to figure out why all of a sudden the shows are showing up dated November 30, 2017.

Here is the link to my main feed: http://www.teachercast.net/category/podcasting-network/feed/

From here, I have several shows under this using Category Podcasting.  I have had this setup for years and have not changed anything in the last several months nor do I think I have updated or added any plugins.

Could this be due to a PowerPress update?  Is there something else that might be causing this issue?

Thank you for any help and support.

Jeff

It seems like something is messing with the publication date on your WordPress site. It could be a theme or plugin conflict, or possibly something in the configuration of the site at the server level. This page has some suggestions on how you can diagnose the source of the issue:

Thank you for the help,

I just stripped the website down and deactivated all of the plugins, cleared all cache, and here is what I figured out.

1) the main feed: teachercast.net/feed appears to be good and is picking up posts in September
2) my podcast feeds coming from PowerPress are no picking up any episodes past Aug 31 even after I change the theme and deactivate all plugins.

Here are two of my episode feeds:
http://www.teachercast.net/category/podcasting-network/techeducator-podcast/feed/
http://www.teachercast.net/category/podcasting-network/teachercast-podcast/feed/

Here is my major feed with all of the shows combined:

With this . . . I'm kinda stuck and I'm not sure what to do.  Thank you for any help/advice.

Go into the Category Podcasting settings in PowerPress and make sure Strict Category Podcasting is enabled.

I just checked it off. . . it was not checked originally (or never ever has been checked off)

What did that switch do?

Here are three of my feeds so we can check to see what the difference is.

THANK YOU for the help and support Shawn.

Looks like your feeds are still showing most recent pubdates of November 30 0001. If you're using a caching plugin, please disable it for a little while in case it's holding on to older versions of the feeds.
