Such a DUMB question! But Here goes!
« on: October 25, 2016, 05:48:26 pm »
Hi

It's been a while since I did a podcast.  Here's my question.

My podcasts are all hosted by Blubrry.  So I uploaded my new podcast there.  And I see it in the Media Files section.

When I set up my podcasts I set up the Itunes account.  Itunes is already pulling my past podcasts (hosted by Blubrry).

So my question is, will Itunes be "notified" that I have uploaded a new podcast to Blubrry.

I assume the answer is YES.    But if I have do something to notify Itunes that a new podcast is waiting, let me know what steps I need to take.

On a side note BTW, while I see the podcast in the Media Files section, I don't see it in the "Manage Episodes" section. What do I need to do to make it show there?)

Thanks, in advance, to answering my rather dumb question!

Your listing in the iTunes Store will update when the RSS feed being used for the listing is updated. Just uploading a new file to your Blubrry media hosting account won't be enough. What are you using to generate the RSS feed? Is it a WordPress site with the PowerPress plugin? Are you using a Blubrry podcaster homepage? Something else?

Hi

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes, it is a Wordpress site with the PowerPress Plugin.  I'm not using a Blubrry pdocaster home page.  I'm also using Clamr Player.

My site is here and you will

Here are some of my PowerPress settings:

Feeds affected:
http://www.plusrowby.com/feed/feed/
http://www.plusrowby.com/feed/podcast/

The podcast player is working, as you can see on this link:  http://www.plusrowby.com/snap-retail/
My Itunes link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/plus-rowby-all-about-shopify/id1111793380

Click here to configure Blubrry Statistics and Hosting services

Enabled! Blubrry Statistics and Media Hosting Enabled!

Special Podcast only Feed: http://www.plusrowby.com/feed/podcast/

I  do see this blue button:

Link Blubrry Account

Click here to link Blubrry account

Link your blubrry.com account if you have a Blubrry Podcast Hosting or Blubrry Podcast Statistics services.

Thanks!

Your podcast RSS feed (http://plusrowby.com/feed/podcast/) looks fine. The most recent item in the RSS feed is the "social media on steroids" post, which matches what's in your iTunes Store listing. Have you published any episodes since then?

Hi Shawn!

I added one more yesterday.  It's listed in the Blubrry Media file area as:

Media Files
View: Uploaded (Unpublished) Media
File Name   Date   Size   Quota   Action
PR-Sweet-Tooth-2016-10-25-EP-0006.mp3 See URL   10/25/2016   13.6 MB   October, 2016   Delete Media

However I don't see the "Sweet Tooth"episode listed at all in the Managed Episodes.  I only see 5 episodes there.   Perhaps that's the "problem".  But even if it's not the problem, how do I show it in the Managed episode.

Thanks!

Hi

Here's a link to a screen capture of the Blubrry Podcaster Dashboard.

http://plusrowby.com/media-manage.png

You can see that I have six media files listed -- including my new "Sweet Tooth" episode.
But only 5 are showing on the Manage Episodes section.

Also https://www.blubrry.com/plusrowby/  only shows 5 episodes.

Is there something I need to do within the Podcaster Dashboard to get all 6 episodes to show -- or is this an Itunes issue -- they simply have not published the podcast yet.   https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/plus-rowby-all-about-shopify/id1111793380

Thanks!

When you publish a post on your website that contains the new media file as a Podcast Episode, then it'll show up in the iTunes Store and everywhere else. If you haven't done that yet, you should.

Hi, Thanks Shawn,

I forgot that step.  :P

So I went back to my site and to the post and published the post.

Please see screen capture:  http://plusrowby.com/linked-episode.png

However, I still see that the new episode is not showing up on "Manage Episodes" https://publish.blubrry.com/content/posts.php or Directory episodes https://www.blubrry.com/plusrowby/ yet -- I assume that takes maybe 24 hours for Blubrry to do that??

Thanks

Rowby

I'm seeing the latest episode in the Blubrry directory. It can take up to 24 hours to update.
