Can't Validate Podcast
« on: June 27, 2016, 11:55:06 am »
Hello, I'm trying to get my podcast validated by iTunes keeps saying that it can't download the episodes from my feed.
https://cannabislifenetwork.com/category/audio/extractly/feed/

The feed checkers I've used don't seem to come up with any useful information. Any suggestions here?

Thanks!

Your podcast RSS feed has no enclosure tags. Have you added any podcast episodes yet? You must have at least one episode in your feed before the iTunes Store will approve your listing.

The first podcast is all set up. We have a self-hosted MP3 file here:
https://cannabislifenetwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Extractly!_E001.mp3

The category is set up in Blubrry and I think everything is good there. Here's a link to the first post on the website:

Could it be an issue with how the website theme is handling these audio posts?

I checked your podcast RSS feed again. Not only are there no enclosure tags, there are no items in the feed at all (the feed is empty).

Try this. Go to PowerPress >> Category Podcasting and check the box next to Strict Categories and click the Save Settings button. Then, go into the post and select the appropriate category for the first episode and click the Update button. This should (hopefully) get the episode into the proper category feed.

I just turned on 'Strict Categories' but when I went to edit the post I didn't see any new options there so I just clicked 'Update' on the post. This doesn't seem to have changed anything though.

The post is set in several categories though, and this is necessary for the theme to work. Only one of these categories was set up in Blubrry though.

Go back into the post that contains the episode. Click the box next to "Modify existing podcast episode". Towards the bottom of the Podcast Episode box, there should be a dropdown menu for Category. If there's one there called "extractly," select it and update the post again.

That seemed to do the trick. Submitted to Apple now.

Thanks!
