All of my episodes disappeared?
« on: June 01, 2015, 03:49:54 pm »
My podcast episodes have all disappeared. (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/functional-medicine-radio/id913420638).

I tested my feed and it comes back as valid: http://drcarri.com/feed/podcast/?wpmfeedkey=1;20f831fc7e34f72449a24551648b46b6

I am not really sure what I can do to get my episodes back up, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

iTunes is pulling http://drcarri.com/feed/  Not the one with the Wishlist memeber Key on the end.

The feed is too large.  It says the feed is 724.5k (castfeedvalidator.com).

You need to make the feed smaller.  1 way is to include less episodes in the feed (They will remain on the website).  Do this by going to the reading settings and set items to 20 or so.  (not the best way I'm sure)

The other way is to do a 301 redirect (see: http://create.blubrry.com/manual/syndicating-your-podcast-rss-feeds/changing-your-podcast-rss-feed-address-url/)  DO THE 301, Not the iTunes new feed url method.   Redirect from /feed to http://drcarri.com/feed/podcast/.  Give iTunes 3 days to 3 weeks (yes, they are that slow) to update the listing.   Also, when you make the 301 redirect, turn on the feed maximizer in the powerpress settings > feeds tab (advanced mode).  That will keep the feed small.   The feed maximizer won't work with the stock feed (/feed) so you can't just do that :(

Hope this helps!
