Podcasts on subdomain or main domain?

Hi all,

First post! 

I'm migrating my church website from hosting podcasts on our web host (a no no) to a media host, Blubrry. Alot of sites, including church sites, that have podcasts seem to do so on a subdomain, such as podcast.mychurchname.com.

However, it seems like I can do this from the main domain as well with Blubrry, using blog posts and linking the media file.

Which method is better? What's the rationale behind either method?

Any advice you can give would be really appreciated.
