How to reconcile total numbers and per platform numbers?
« on: November 03, 2014, 12:56:11 pm »
We just enabled media statistics on our podcast, so I'm looking at numbers for the one episode posted since then. It shows: - 744 total downloads - 471 unique downloads. Makes sense. Then when I look to see the breakdown by platform it lists: - iOS 69 - Macintosh 29 - Windows 24 - Unknown 7 - Others 4 (+ 2 other platforms not listed, which presumably each have less than 4). That's about 130 downloads. Why is this number so much less than the 744 total number?

The only thing I can think of is that we didn't realize that you're not supposed to manually add the prefix when you enter the podcast URL, so we entered it with the prefix attached. Maybe that made it double count or something? But when I look in our RSS feed all the enclosure URLs look normal - the one we manually added the prefix to doesn't have it twice or anything.

So, what am I not understanding about these numbers?
