Support for opus format
« on: August 30, 2014, 04:53:50 pm »
Hey guys,

Can you please include support for the Opus audio format in PowerPress.

The extension is .opus and the mime type - according to https://wiki.xiph.org/OggOpus - is audio/ogg.
As no browsers that I'm aware of support Opus natively, there would be no requirement for an inline player at this stage.

Cheers,
Dave

Sure, added to the TODO list, hopefully make it into next release.

Actually that was not hard, simple 1 line addition. Do you have a URL to an opus file that I can test with?

tested and works with current dev version!

Do you know if the PHP getid3 library has included support for Opus?

I've done some digging on this, and I'm not 100% sure.  Because Opus is held within an Ogg container, and supports VorbisComment, that would suggest that it will be handled the same way that an Ogg Vorbis file is.

Sorry!

I'm not a user of the opus format for my podcast. All mp3 for compatibility, but  cool that it is now going to be supported. Thanks for the awesome plugin.
