Hey there! I've been scouring the forums in search of an answer to a very pressing problem when submitting my feed to iTunes. Obviously being listed on the podcast section of the iTunes store is the Holy Grail and the reason I started podcasting in the first place. But when I submit my feed url to iTunes via the form, I get the following message:

"We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code 403."

Now please read the following before responding as I have done plenty of checking and troubleshooting before posting my desperate little plea!

1. The feed validates perfectly fine at feedvalidator.org
2. The feed is perfectly functional and looking great at http://www.blubrry.com/bowlafterbowl
3. The feed is even PERFECTLY FUNCTIONAL IN iTUNES when I use file > subscribe to podcast and manually subscribe to my feed.

The only abnormalities with ANYTHING I can find are as follows:
1. When posting in WordPress, every time I click the 'validate' button next to the media link, I get the dreaded message 'The requested URL returned error code 404, file not found.' HOWEVER when I click the test link below the error message, http://bowlafterbowl.com/podcasts/004_laurien_rose.mp3, the file works perfectly fine. The first two episodes I uploaded DID validate (episodes 000 and 001) but subsequent episodes have all given me the similar error but still work on the post and on blubrry.com despite not validating.
2. When viewing the podcast in iTunes (manually subscribed, remember), my iTunes displays the runtimes of episodes 000 and 001 as 17 minutes and 54 minutes respectively. However, it does not display runtimes for subsequent episodes, as if it is unsure or can't see the file to tell me how long those episodes are.

The only thing I can guess is there is a problem with the media statistics redirect that is causing the error in iTunes. This is troubling because I do want to keep the blubrry stats enabled. They have been working fine and have been a great tool to track the number of total and unique downloads. However, if this keeps me from being able to submit to iTunes (and by all accounts it shouldn't) it of course will be a deal-breaker for me. Please let me know what I should do! I'm on a roll and iTunes is the current step I'm on. I'm posting two more episodes over the weekend and would desperately love to get the iTunes process started as soon as possible. Thanks so much in advance for your time and help on this important issue!

The problem is not with the stats redirect.  I tried to verify the file link you put in the post on our test server and it failed.

The best thing I can tell you is do not put your episodes on your webserver.  Get a proper Media Host (such as Blubrry hosting).  A lot (most) web servers are not compatible with iTunes (and other) podcasting platform.   See: http://create.blubrry.com/manual/internet-media-hosting/

If you email me (mike [at] rawvoice.com)  I can give you a free 30 day promo code for blubrry hosting.  This will more than likely fix your problem.
