Interesting statistics problem
« on: March 10, 2014, 06:24:49 am »
Good morning all!

I have a strange question that I could use your help on. I run a podcast called VoxNet Radio, this went quiet for around 9 months but we are back and released our reunion cast. it doesn't appear to be showing in the stats page though but I am pretty sure we have had more than 10 downloads :P

Any advice would be epic.

Make sure you have the redirect URL in your media url in your feed.  I if you want me to check it, give me your feed address.

Your redirect is not implemented.  Follow the instructions below to get it going.

Go to powerpress settings in your wordpress dashboard and click on services and stats (put it in advanced mode if it's not already) and sign into your blubrry.com account there.

or if you want to do it manually...

Login to blubrry.com and go to Manage Account  and select your show in the green pulldown on the left top of the page.  Then click on Measure and media statistics.  in there on the right side is a link called "Getting Started".  This will give you your redirect URL.  You need to put that URL in front of any link to your mp3 file.

Start with an existing media link

http://www.website.com/path/to/media.mp3

Remove the http:// at the beginning of the link

www.website.com/pathto/media.mp3/

Place your Media Redirect URL in front of the modified link

http://media.blubrry.com/brightideas/www.website.com/path/to/media.mp3

Note: There should not be any double slashes '//' between words in the final URL value except for the double slashes found at the beginning of the string in the protocol (http://) . There should only be one protocol (http://) at the beginning of the value. Additional http:// within the string will cause problems for Microsoft based clients.

Hi mgdell

Thank you for the reply,

Ok I have now added this: http://media.blubrry.com/voxnetradio/www.voxnetradio.com/wp-content/uploads/Podcast/VoxNet_Radio_Episode_1.mp3

Does this look better now?

Thank you

Yup... it looks correct to me.

Give it a day or so to start reporting.

Happy Podcasting!

Hi Again guys,

Right so left the changes you suggested and I assume this is working, not sure how to test.

But I have noticed now that when you try and download the mp3 something funky happens. http://www.voxnetradio.com/category/podcast/

get 404, this was working end of last week, any ideas?

Cheers

Sorry guys,

Moved my last reply into it's own topic,

I have made the required changes for the redirect and left it over 24 hours but still when I go into stats I can see details for the uploaded casts from around a year ago but nothing to do with the recent one.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Once you add the statistics redirect, only new data since you implemented will be tracked. We have no time machine unfortunately :). That means we will only be able to give you totals for new episodes reliably. Older episodes with long tail will take lone rto show up int he statistics system as we do not display episodes with less than 10 downloads.

My recommendation: make a new episode, wait 24-48 hours, then you should see that episode in the statistics system. For archive episodes, you will need to click the link "Browse All" to see those who have totals less than 10.
