only 2 episodes are showing up in iTunes.
« on: January 24, 2014, 11:20:07 am »
I have 27 episodes in my podcast. For awhile, only about 4-5 would show up in iTunes. I thought that it might have been due to some hyperlinks in the posts, so I removed them.

After that, now only 2 episodes are showing up in iTunes. They all show up fine in my blog/site.

Feed appears to be valid.

I don't think file size is an issue with only this many episodes.
(running latest version of Wordpress and the plugin)

Site:
http://www.partysharkmusic.com/podcast

or you can got to blog and filter to category podcast
http://partysharkmusic.com/blog/?cat=176

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm seeing a bunch more than 2 podcasts in your feed.

Thank for reviewing, Mike.

You're correct, the feed does contain a lot more than two.

But when you review the podcast page in iTunes it only shows 2 episodes:

I'm not sure why.

Does your content have adult content in it?
If so are you flagging it correctly?
Also are you 100% positive that the feed you submitted to iTunes is the one above?

@Todd

Our podcast episodes may contain explicit lyrics in the songs and for that reason I do categorize all episodes as "explicit" using the Powerpress configuration settings when I post.

And yes, I'm 100% positive that the feed URL I provided to iTiunes is:

http://partysharkmusic.com/blog/?feed=podcast

It's the "Special Podcast only Feed" pulled from the Powerpress plugin Feeds section.

I just tried to submit it to iTunes again and it said that it has already been submitted, so that's the one.

It's likely that Apple has not updated your listing in a while.  Sometimes iTunes gets "Stuck" for lack of a better term.

The best bet for you now, as long as your feed is ok which it seems to be, is to email them.  podcasts@apple.com and give them your itunes URL (the link to your listing) and ask them to refresh your feed.  It could be they stopped pulling it for some reason and haven't checked back lately.

The good thing is, anyone that subscribes will get all the episodes available in your feed.  The listing is a different matter.

@mgdell

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I'll contact apple and see if that will work and I'll provide an update once I hear back.

I just added a new episode and iTunes is showing that one, but still only showing the other most recent 2.

So now there is a total of 3 showing even with the latest update pull from iTunes.

Something has gone wrong with your feed since I looked at it a few days ago.  Now it's coming up as a webpage which it should not.

See: http://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/using-powerpress/diagnosing-feed-andor-player-issues-with-powerpress/ to troubleshoot the feed issue.

Correct that problem and give iTunes a few days to update.

@mgdell,

When I review the feed via Chrome (Mac), it comes up as the xml feed file.

Which browser are you seeing it appear as a webpage?

@mgdell

I was viewing the feed in Firefox Mac, and it's not an actual site that shows up of me.

The feed (xml file) is being displayed in Firefox's default RSS/reader mode which make sit look like a site. Is this what you are seeing?

In other browsers, it just shows up as the xml mark-up. I would suspect that from Safari, since they dropped support for RSS a few versions back.

It's working now.  I see what you see.   There was a webpage looking thing there yesterday when I looked.   (Yes, I know the difference between a feed and a webpage) :)

You have to find out why more episodes are not in your feed.  Make sure all the non-showing up episode's posts have the media link in the podcast episode area.  What is in itunes is what is in your feed at this point.

If you would like a one-on one consultation with us at blubrry about it, see: http://create.blubrry.com/support/podcast-consulting-services/ and use the contact us form at blubrry.com

At this point, without going into your setup, I can't be of much more help.  (Please don't post your login info here!)

@mgdell,

Thanks, Mike.

And yeah, I didn't mean for my response to sound like I was insulting your intelligence or anything about the distinction between the RSS feed presentation vs. a webpage. I was just confused base don what I was seeing on my end and trying to clarify.

Do you think I should still go through the trouble shooting options that you sent earlier? Like possibly seeing if another plugin might be causing a conflict, caching issues, etc. or should I just go get direct support?
