403 error
« on: January 10, 2014, 12:12:56 pm »
Hi all,

I was putting my first podcast on my website (all done via some manual creating of menus), but near the bottom of the page, where the url for the mp3 file should go, when I click verify i get a 403 error. That's the first point.

The second point is that I don't know what to put as a url in iTunes, as it's not accepting anything I enter

Any newbie pointers?

First things first.

What is the media URL you are trying to verify?  (This may help me to figure out why the 403 error)

2nd.  you would submit your podcast to itunes using the podcast only URL found in the feeds tab of your powerpress settings only AFTER you have successfully posted your first episode to your blog.

i'm not sure if this is the link you mean, but it differs from so called feed urls from what I can tell. I haven't a clue though to be honest:

http://www.stevenichollscareercoaching.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Podcast1IntroToSteveNicholls.mp3

I also get this on validation of this url: http://www.stevenichollscareercoaching.co.uk/feed/podcast/

Congratulations!

The 403 error you are getting on http://www.stevenichollscareercoaching.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/Podcast1IntroToSteveNicholls.mp3 is likely caused by your webserver.  Something it's setup right to handle mp3 files.

You shouldn't really host your mp3's on the same server as your website anyway.   See: http://create.blubrry.com/manual/internet-media-hosting/

The "publishing demo" link doesnt work on the hosting pricing page.

This is all for naught if I have the same issues getting iTunes to recognize feed names etc., so am looking for some initial hand holding, whether via direct help or video guides.
