audio assets attached to the incorrect items
« on: September 18, 2013, 11:11:10 am »
Hello, I run a Wordpress website using the Blubrry PowerPress plugin to host weekly sermons which I podcast through iTunes.  This summer several of our audio files were input into the wrong audio pages leading to our podcast displaying one title and date yet playing a different sermon from a different date.  I have corrected all of this on our website, but the itunes list is still incorrect.  I have been in touch with support from iTunes, who said this:

"After reviewing your feed, I can see that the audio assets are attached to the incorrect items. . . Due to the fact that iTunes is reflecting the feed correctly, the next step would be to reach out to Blubrry."

How can we get this resolved?  Below is the link to our podcast and feed, then below that are the episodes that are incorrect.  Thanks for your help!

Double check that the episode's media file is linked to the correct blog post.  There is no way that I know of that the wrong file can be linked to a post.

Thanks Mike.  I went into the Media Library on my Wordpress dashboard and "attached" all of the mp3s with the correct blog post, but this has still not corrected the problem.  Here are the posts that are incorrect.  iTunes pointed me to Blubrry.  Where can I go to find a solution?

From observation, it looks like someone moved your database or web site and messed up the database relationships.

The only way this can be fixed is to literally edit the blog posts and fix them. The wrong date, URLs, etc.. just go in and edit each blog post, change what you want it to be and then click update.

Exactly.  I went in and updated everything from the Wordpress Dashboard.  Now it is all showing up correct on the website, but is still incorrect on the feed.  Is there another way to go in and change the information?  Can I update through the blubrry plugin some how, or access the feed directly?  Thank you for your help.

Anything you enter into PowerPress Settings should appear in your feed. So you are seeing settings in PowerPress Settings that are not appearing in the feed? What fields are those?

I have been editing the blog posts on Wordpress.  I went into Powerpress settings and didn't see a way to update episodes.  All I see is how to update general feed information, not specifics regarding audio.  Is there something I'm missing?

Well now you have me confused.

Is the information about the "program" incorrect on itunes, or the "episodes"?

Program > PowerPress settings
Episodes > Blog Posts

See the earlier posts above.  The mp3 episodes are linked to the wrong titles.  They have been corrected on our wordpress website, but still coming out incorrect on itunes.

Is the feed correct? (http://www.jacobswellmemphis.org/feed/podcast/) Do the view source option in your browser to look at it closely.

When I look at the source code, the feed is listed as "http://www.jacobswellmemphis.org/feed" (without the podcast at the end).  In Powerpress settings, it is listed with podcast at the end.  Should this be changed?  How?

Ok, as I look closely at http://www.jacobswellmemphis.org/feed/podcast/, I see that there are some incorrect things.  Now, I need to find out how to fix it.  For instance, the last incorrect episode was on 7/27/13 entitled, "Transparent: I’m Fine."  The correct mp3 link is http://www.jacobswellmemphis.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/2013.07.27.mp3.  This mp3 is in the podcast feed, but there is also another, which I've pasted below.  on iTunes, the mp3 below is what is showing up.  How can I remove this mp3 from the episode?  I've examined the html of the blog post and the below mp3 is not there (I removed it weeks ago and replaced with the correct mp3).  But it is not correcting on the feed.

If it is not correct in the feed, you need to go to edit the specific blog post and fix it there.

When you modify the podcast episode information, do not forget to go to the top of the page and click ;Update'.  These settings are not saved until you save the blog post.

Yes, the blog post was changed about a month ago and saved.  I know that it is saved correctly because every time I check it, the mp3 file is still there.  So what is plan B when this approach doesn't work?
