XML parsing error - […]

« on: August 08, 2013, 03:16:35 am »
Thanks in advance for any help :)

This is the feed: http://apparatus.si/feed/podcast/
Here is what Validator says: http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fapparatus.si%2Ffeed%2Fpodcast%2F

The full error reads:

"line 1035, column 416: XML parsing error: <unknown>:1035:416: undefined entity [help]

... Vse omenjeno v pogovoru: Toshl N900 - […]
"

I have no idea what to do but it's meesing with my iTunes/podcatchers subscription. Some episodes do not show up. And more importantly, the latest one does not.
Any help is much appreciated.

If you have podcast channels enabled, and the feed episode maximizer option enabled, disable it temporary until PowerPress 5.0 is released. This is a bug specifically with the Feed Episode Maximizer and WordPress 3.6

I am not using channels, and I have this same problem. I turned on channels just to see if the default Podcast channel would have it one, but it didn't. I turned channels back off.

It's been fine for over a year (I'm on episode 50), and this just started, about the same time as eznat777 (August 10th for me). It was happening with episode 1 only, which I have set as the Feature Episode, to show at the top of iTunes. I turned off the Feature Episode checkbox in the main Basic Settings tab, and the feed then validated. Looks like it may be a bug with that option.

I resync'ed my feed with Feedburner and then it, too, was valid. iTunes worked immediately after that (it showed none of my episodes, previously).

FYI.

Oh you are correct, there are two features that use the custom podcast feed in PowerPress: "Feed Episode Maximizer" and the "Feature Episode in iTunes Listing" features.

This is fixed in PowerPress 5.0 beta and will be fixed in the coming release.

The bug is caused by a logic change in WordPress 3.6 release. Older versions of WordPress properly encoded the "..." character, WP 3.6 no longer encodes this character for what ever reason. The fix in PowerPress 5.0 is to not rely on WordPress's functions to encode the data.
