Feed Problem stopping iTunes picking up content?
« on: February 19, 2013, 01:16:22 am »
Hi guys

I would love any help on this you could give me.

A friend ask me to help him with his podcast feed - content is not being picked up by iTunes at all.

The Blubrry diagonostic tool tells me the install is good. First problem I encountered however was the feed did not validate.

Here is the validation result: http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.summerlakes.org.au%2Ffeed%2Fpodcast%2F

Line 37 seems to be the problem with the validation.

So my questions:
1) How do you fix this - it seems like the "|" is causing problems, but that could be due to the theme?
2) Is this likely to be the problem with the feed not being picked up in iTunes?
3) If yes, where do you think the problem could be / possible solutions to that problem?

Many thanks

angelo

The first error with your feed is very strange, something is adding to text to your feed where it does not belong. You  will need to disable plugins one by one until the problem goes away to determine what is causing it. It could even be your theme, so try the default twenty twelve theme if you suspect it. This needs to be fixed, this makes the feed nearly impossible to parse for most services including iTunes.

The second error, your media URLs have spaces. When you use PowerPress and enter such a URL into the media URL field, you should get a warning. Rename all your media files replacing spaces with a character such as dash or underscore then re-enter all your media URLs you change into PowerPress, the warnings should go away from PowerPress and the error in feedvalidator will go away as well.
