How to post audio from existing RSS feed to Powerpress
« on: July 11, 2012, 02:50:42 pm »
I have an existing RSS feed that contains audio mp3 files, with a new post including a new mp3 file every day. I was curious as to whether I could use Powerpress to post the mp3 files to Powerpress. I want to be able to embed an audio player on wordpress sites, that will play the latest audio from the latest post from the RSS feed. Does that make sense? Can anyone help?
Thanks!

If it's already in your blog, then what you're referring to is called "podcasting" and that's exactly what PowerPress does.

I would like to take just the audio file from each of the posts in the RSS feed and embed that file as a file you can play back on the website in a nice neat little audio player that only displays the latest audio file for playback. Does that make sense?

No this does not make any sense.

Please reply with 1 example, 1 media url in question, the feed url in question, and the url to the page in question where you want this mp3 to appear in a player.

Hopefully this he's to clarify:

Feed url:    http://feeds.feedburner.com/usccb/zhqs

Media file from the feed: http://ccc.usccb.org/cccradio/NABPodcasts/12_07_01.mp3

website where we'd want latest media file to automatically display with each day's file automatically displaying : http://sacredheartmarshfield.org/

We would of course secure rights to display this on our website before doing so.

Okay I understand, you want to pull a feed and re-populate it's contents on your WordPress web site on say an hourly or daily basis?

Once the content is replicated into your WordPress blog, PowerPress will pick it up. The problem is PowerPress was not built to "aggregate data" from other feeds. There are other WordPress plugins that facilitate that function.

The trick will be finding an aggregating feed pulling plugin that also imports the enclosure data from the RSS feed. Either way, this is something that you can hire us for consulting you with. This is not something that's of the norm for an a podcaster but is a common task we address for our enterprise clients. Use our contact form www.blubrry.com/contact.php and indicate that you would like to hire us for consulting regarding "aggregating podcast content from other web sites via RSS feeds".

If you plan on pulling more than 1 feed on a daily/hourly basis, that's exactly what www.blubrry.com does in the form of a directory and that infrastructure we provide as a service called the RawVoice Generator and is available through our corporate site www.rawvoice.com.
