New Website under new domain - Feed redirect
« on: June 23, 2012, 09:19:39 am »
Hey guys,

I'm must be a total NOOB but help me out so I can get this straight.  So my church here in brazil has a website that's running wordpress under a domain (ibaweb.com.br) and we are switching over to a new address - alphachurch.tv - that has a new template and etc.  I know i have to do a 301 redirect but do I have to copy over all the posts (podcasts posts) from the old domain to the new one?  Should I do a backup and upload the backup to the new wordpress site?

thanks in advace!

Yes, you could do a backup from the old and restore to the new as long as you want all the posts in the same place on the new site as the old site.

You will also have to either re-link all the media files to their new location.  There are tools in powerpress > tools to help you find and replace media URLS... Or if you are going to leave the media in the same place, you shouldn't have to re-link in the new installation.

If you only want the podcast posts (assuming you have other posts) you will have to do it manually.

Thanks!

I didnt have much trouble.. I did a 301, importd the posts to the new wp database then changed the feed url in feedburner.

Since i migrated iTunes isn't picking up my feed image (on itunes).  I have configured iTunes settings and everything else on powerpress and even uploaded a new image according to the new size but my image comes back blank. Any ideas?

Check it out:  http://itunes.apple.com/br/podcast/igreja-batista-alphaville/id472033297

I looked up your podcast on iTunes, iTunes is using http://feeds.feedburner.com/IgrejaBatistaAlphaville as your podcast feed.

You are using the new iTunes:order feature, and the way you have your items ordered is displayed correctly on iTunes.

iTunes order 1 is listed first, order 48 is last. I see your June 29th episode (order number 48) at the bottom of the list, which is correct.

There's no need to use the order feature unless you have some sort of reason to use it. It's meant for folks who create a video series and they want the viewer/listener to come across the media in a particular order (other than by date).

I put it in order because i have no idea why itunes wasn't show the podcasts in order by date (it was all screwed up)...

Any ideas why the page isn't showing any image?

May have something to do with your image being password protected: http://livetest.ibaweb.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/600x600.jpg

PowerPress settings > iTunes (both basic powerpress settings as well as for each podcast category / podcast channel if you added any).

Looks like your FeedBurner fee dis not updating (http://feeds.feedburner.com/IgrejaBatistaAlphaville?format=xml) You will need to contact FeedBurner for help.

If you have a Feed that PowerPress created for you that you want us to test then please reply with it. But as I noted before, your iTunes listing is populated by the FeedBurner feed above, which we can't help you with.
