Problems streaming in chrome (file only downloads)
« on: December 05, 2014, 11:17:04 am »
Greetings fellow podcasters;

I've just uploaded my first podcast to http://startwriting.ca/2014/12/500-words-episode-1/

The player appears and the content streams fine on my mobile browsers, and in Safari on my desktop. But on Chrome on my desktop, clicking play initiates a download. The content doesn't stream. This happens on my neighbour's computer as well. ('My neighbour's computer' is about as technical as I get).

If this is a known issue or you have any suggestions, please let me know. That's the default browser for myself and most people I know and it bugs me that the content doesn't stream as I'd expect.

It's because you are using .m4a format instead of mp3.  M4A will work "streaming" if it's encoded properly, but for the best compatibility and so you can use other players in Powerpress, I suggest you re-encode in mp3.
