iTunes new feed URL tag confusion
« on: May 26, 2012, 02:27:04 pm »
Thanks for your help in advance. I'm a little confused here and want to make sure I do this right. I want to change my feed from the Feedburner Feed to the podcast feed on my wordpress, so I can use Powerpress, which I already have installed.

My original feed NOW is: http://richamooi.com/feed

My feedburner feed is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/pleasefeedrichamooi

This feed is what is going to iTunes right now, even though I only have one episode there. I do not have any subscribers yet so I want to do a iTunes new feed url tag.

Bluberry recommends I use: http://richamooi.com/feed/podcast.

SO....does this look correct below to submit to iTunes?

<itunes:new-feed-url>http://richamooi.com/feed/podcast</itunes:new-feed-url>

Do I stick this where it says, "Original Feed" in my Feedburner? Then, after that, do I turn off smartcast after I see the new address in iTunes?

Will it still show the one episode I have there?

Thanks.

Did you already submit a feed URL to iTunes? If so, then you need to log into you your FeedBurner account and see if you can redirect your feedburner URL to your new URL.

Hi Angelo,

Yes, as I mentioned above, I have a feed going to iTunes from Feedburner and there is one episode there. Can I do a new feed url in Feedburner since I don't have any subscibers yet? Where do I do it? I want to start using Bluberry Powerpress for my feed. Thanks.

I don't know how to help you with FeedBurner unfortunately. That's why I said you will need to log into FeedBurner to see how to redirect your FeedBurner feed to (http://richamooi.com/feed/podcast).

I did a quick search and came up with this: http://support.google.com/feedburner/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=79597 Again I don't know FeedBurner (You need to contact Google for help) but I assume reading this that when you delete your FeedBurner feed there's an option to 301 redirect your feed to http://richamooi.com/feed/podcast.
