Tracking Statistics for Multiple Podcast Channels
« on: May 20, 2012, 05:46:21 pm »
Blubrry,

Is there a way to track statistics for multiple podcast channels? I thought I could handle this tracking issue by establishing two separate redirect URLs, each corresponding to its respective podcast channel feed. I then entered the redirect URLs in the Blubrry plugin, and then entered my media URLs in my WordPress post--again, one for each channel.

I incorrectly assumed that the plugin was smart enough to apply the proper redirect to the proper podcast channel--and only that podcast channel. However, it seems as though any/all redirects that one lists in the plugin are applied to all channels (not what I want).

Is the only way around this situation to only use manual insertions of the redirect/media URL? Is it possible to not specify a redirect URL in the plugin and still use the redirect URLs when entering media information for a Blubrry podcast channel on a post?

Thanks (again) for your help!

Mike

Yes, for now the best way is to manually put the redirects in for each channel.  I believe it's on the list of features to be added later to have separate redirects in the plugin for channels.

Angelo can confirm..

Yes it is on the feature TODO list for future versions of PowerPress.

You can do this for category podcasting, but I would not recommend switching. Category stats redirect URLs only applies to the feeds, not web pages. The problem is we cannot efficiently detect the category during page loads.

With Podcast Channels, we can add this without much complication, but we've only had 1 other request for this feature up until today. We balance our feature TODO list based on how often the feature is requested.

Thanks for the clarification--at least I didn't miss something.

I look forward to the feature when you get enough requests. For the record, I think it would be *excellent*!

Hello,
I don't completely understand if tracking multiple Podcast Channels is available or not.

Here is my situation.
One category podcast per topic for a total of 10 topics
One Custom Podcast Channel for reviews of each category podcast, total 10
One Custom Podcast Channel for PDFs of each category podcast, total 10

Can I track all statistics?
I don't care if they are all together in one statics report.

Thank you

meetpowerpress: Blubrry stats will track everything, the original thread here is about tracking each category podcast or podcast channel into separate blubrry stats accounts. I hope this clarifies things.

At present you can track everything into one statistics account. This is the most affordable solution if you ever plan on purchasing premium statistics, then you only have to purchase one account.

Thank you!
So I just need to add the redirect url on the Statistics page of Powerpress settings and it will then be automatically prepended to all links I add in powerpress media boxes right?
And these boxes can be for category or custom channels, correct?

Both correct.Again the only complication is if you wanted separated stats accounts on one blog.
