Feed not accepted by iTunes using Powerpress.
« on: September 08, 2011, 03:50:58 pm »
Hello, before I resubmit, I just wanted to post my feed and see if someone here can see any glaring issues that might have caused me to get rejected. Only thing I changed since I got rejected was that I noticed that I had 13 keywords, when it says to only have 12 (severely doubting that was a reason for rejection though).

Link to my feed I'm resubmitting:
http://djbiacco.com/podcast/?feed=rss2

I submitted the podcast feed originally (http://djbiacco.com/podcast/?feed=podcast) but now I'm going to have to submit the one above because it's saying this url is already up for submission.

I just noticed that in the podcast feed explicit is set to 'NO' but in the RSS feed it's set to 'YES'. That's probably why I got denied. In Powerpress, I have it set to Explicit, why wouldn't that be reflected in the Podcast feed?

I looked at the feed, I only find the itunes explicit tag set to yes.  That shouldn't be a problem.

What is the error it gives you when you try to submit it to itunes?

Keep in mind you can't "Re-submit" the same feed to iTunes, once iTunes black/white lists a feed, that's the end of it.

You want to submit the podcast only feed to iTunes. If you already submitted it and it's been more than 2 weeks, then contact Apple to find out why it has/hasn't been approved. You will get an email one way or the other, they email the address in your feed.

Thank you for checking out my feed guys. I sent in the rss feed link last week, and I was given another rejection notification today. This is what the email said:

Quote
Dear Podcast Owner

The following podcast has not been included in the iTunes podcast directory.

Name: Biacco Live in Technicolor
Feed URL: http://djbiacco.com/podcast/?feed=rss2

Submissions may not be included in the directory for a variety of reasons. For more information, please see the podcast technical specification at http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html.

Sincerely,

The iTunes Store Team

Now, in that rss2 feed it said explicit tag was set to yes, yet I was still rejected. So I have 2 questions now. Angelo as you said, I need to be submitting the podcast feed not the rss one, so how do I add explicit = "yes" to that? In powerpress settings, explicit is already set to "yes".

Also, now that my podcast has been rejected and I cannot resubmit the podcast feed url, how do I change the url of the podcast feed in PowerPress so that I can resubmit it?

Are there any other problems with resubmitting? Do I need to change the name of the podcast or anything so it seems like something they haven't seen before?

Thank you so much for your help guys.

Fill out all your blog's settings, not just PowerPress's. The main feed description tag (<description></description>) is empty, which may be why it was rejected. I don't believe you can re-submit the same feed now that this one was rejected. Before you submit another feed, make sure you can subscribe to the feed in your own copy of iTunes and that all the "views" display data correctly in your iTunes app. If you're happy then try submitting the podcast only feed: http://djbiacco.com/podcast/?feed=podcast

Also, not sure about the word "Technicolor", I would first find out if the word is copyrighted, it may be that you violated a copyright using it in your title. I would venture to guess based on this listing (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/technicolor/id342266986?mt=8) that you cannot use that word. You should be able to contact Apple to get an answer why it was rejected, though sometimes their responses are "poor" guesses by their support staff.

Yes, I tested the podcast feed in itunes before submitting in iTunes and it looked like it was supposed to.

I will add that description tag and try renaming the podcast.

I tried finding a thread that describes how to change the url of your feed so it can be resubmitted but came up empty. Do you know of anywhere I can find that information? Thanks again.

Ok, so currently where I'm at is I couldn't figure out how to get a new feed name, so I created a new podcast channel in powerpress, and used that new feed to submit to iTunes.

Here's a link to the new feed
http://djbiacco.com/podcast/?feed=live-in-color

My only concern I have now is that the overal podcast is still set to explicit = "no".

I got the individual episodes to be labeled as Explicit, but all of my episodes are most likely going explicit, so I don't want to run the risk of getting taken down.

So, how do I set the overall feed to explicit = "yes"? The explicit setting in Powerpress isn't doing it for me.

Podcast Channels > edit the channel in question.

Go to iTunes tab, for the "Explicit" setting, set to "yes". don't forget to click 'save'.
