Having some trouble with some New Survey questions
« on: September 17, 2007, 02:00:09 am »
The survey asks me to indicate my RSS feed subscriber number, and the pop-up says " Your subscriber count can be determined by looking at the total number of unique IP addresses that access your RSS feed. Web statistics tools, such as AWStats, can provide this information."

I do host my own files, and my AWStats page does indicate the total number of times my RSS feed is accessed each month, but not how many of those hits was from a unique IP address.

Can anyone tell me which numbers I should refer to in order to pull this info?

Thanks.

I would just use the total number of times accessed. I use StatCounter which counts webpage hits, and although it will give "unique" visits, that number is based upon cookies. So if someone has cookies turned off it won't give an accurate number.

What I find a bigger problem is that it doesn't seem to discriminate my computer from the rest so if I do a lot of webpage work it will artificially raise the numbers.
