Problems with URLs after switching from PodPress
« on: July 24, 2010, 11:04:19 pm »
Hey,

I recently switched from PodPress to PowerPress and i have a problem, Powerpress won`t play my podcasts because it doesn`t find the mediafiles.

For example in this post: http://www.filmabend.info/filmabend-info-die-zwolfte-green-zone-brooklyns-finest/ The correct URL to the media file is http://www.filmabend.info/podcast/040410filmabend12.mp3.

In the PowerPress settings, i entered http://www.filmabend.info/podcast/ as the directory.

First i chose to import the old PodPress URLs but it didn`t work. Then i deleted the media file frpm the post and attached it again with PowerPress, i am able to validate the media file`s location.

Oddly, PowerPress always prefixes the correct media file URL with my Podcast feed`s URL, as you can see from the Downloadlink in the post above, it seems to turn the correct URL http://www.filmabend.info/podcast/040410filmabend12.mp3 into http://feeds2.feedburner.com/filmabendpodcastwww.filmabend.info/podcast/040410filmabend12.mp3

I have the Feedsmith Wordpress plugin installed to manage my feeds, but disabling that didn`t help.

Any ideas?

EDIT:
Figured out the problem, i had to delete my Feed URL (http://feeds2.feedburner.com/filmabendpodcast) from "Services&Statistics" in the Settings. But how can i use stastistics now?

Feed Burner does not offer media download statistics. FeedBurner provides feed statistics. The difference being that FeedBurner's statistics of your media are only when the download is from the feed (subscriptions only), not from your web site direct downlaods or web page plays.

Media Statistics (Free or Premium) provided by Blubrry (Also available directly from RawVoice without branding) provide you statistics for both your feed downloads (through subscriptions) as well as web page downloads and in-webpage plays. You can get free statistics from Blubrry.com, which is limited by how much information is reported. If you're looking for a general picture of your downloads, the free edition is perfect. If you need to know every country or client application that is downloading your media, then the paid Premium Blubrry stats may be ideal for you.
