Validation and install issues
« on: June 15, 2010, 07:55:10 am »
Hello

Installed PowerPress Plug-In
Configured Settings
Selected Feeds
Selected Validate From Podcast Channel Feeds

Firstly url does not resolve http://mydomain/feed/podcast/

Note: as I can not find a folder for this I assuming this path is generated in the db OR The folders are simply not created ??

The following code was produced From Feed Validator.

Sorry

This feed does not validate.

Server returned HTTP Error 404: Not Found [help]

In addition, interoperability with the widest range of feed readers could be improved by implementing the following recommendations.

line 29, column 51: Image title doesn't match channel title [help]

Blog Title » Page not found

^
line 33, column 1: Missing recommended iTunes channel element: itunes:category [help]

^
line 33, column 1: The recommended <itunes:email> element is missing [help]

Simple answer, your podcast feed is reporting 404 by WordPress (not PowerPress) because the feed is empty. Create 1 podcast episode, and your feed will no longer be 404 and should validate.

I have already uploaded a *.mp3 file to http://ixchelha.org/podcast/test.mp3
So as I have already done this. Q Is there a specific location these files should go?
I have a link in the first post which I am testing http://ixchelha.org/2010/06/12/farm-work/
Thanks in advance Jonathan
PS According to the WPMU Docs, Wordpress adds the necessary rss feed automatically. I am not sure this is the case:
From Chrome http://ixchelha.org/feed/
This is what I get

First, re-enable PowerPress. I'm looking at your blog currently looks like PowerPress is disabled. You need it enabled all the time for Podcasting support to work.

Then, go to the edit post page (edit the post you want to make into a podcast episode) in WordPress admin, browse below the edit post area and look for an input box like the one pictured. Enter the Media URL (http://ixchelha.org/podcast/test.mp3) into the "Media URL" field, then click "save".

This is the podcast box PowerPress adds to the bottom of your edit post screen:

Can you run the diagnostics under the "Tools" page? Is everything compatible with your server?

I do not see any issues. You should have received an error included with that screen shot error occurred message.

Can you try verifying this URL? http://media.blubrry.com/pluginspodcast/content.blubrry.com/pluginspodcast/Plugins031_Configure_SMTP.mp3 Do you get an error message or does it work correctly?

Is your mp3 in stereo or joint stereo, and 64,96,128,192kbps bit rate and using either 22Khz or 44Khz sample rate? May be that your audio is is not being detected by the getid3 library that we use in PowerPress.

NOTE: Downloaded the *.mp3 Blubrry offered to test. Audacity show the setting as pretty much that which was set as default and I have used to create my test.
This file when upload to the ixchelha.org gave an error.

I am not sure exactly what is occurring, I'll be adding additional debug message details to the next release of PowerPress coming very soon. Please hang tight.

It sounds like I am having this exact same problem. Word for word this is the same thing I'm experiencing. Could this have something to do with WordPress 3.0 and the multisite options? Maybe a redirect problem somewhere?
